Summit - Home to Missionaries
For if I preach the gospel, that gives me no ground for boasting. For necessity is laid upon me. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! - 1 Corinthians 9:16
At the Summit, we are very supportive of missions. Close to 20% of our budget goes to missions - in Kansas City, in Haiti, in Japan, and to those training preachers in Eurasia and South America. We love our missionaries, and are so thankful for them.
During our recent Elders retreat we discussed what makes Summit different from other churches because of our location. We're not your typical neighborhood church. We come from many neighborhoods to attend Sunday and Wednesday services at the Summit. That's what makes us unique. And that presents us with an opportunity.
Maybe we should all be training to be missionaries - to our home neighborhoods. Maybe we come to the Summit to train and encourage each other, so we can go home and share Jesus with our neighbors. Perhaps, in addition to supporting missionaries around the world, we can be the missionaries to Springfield, Rogersville, Ava, Republic, etc.
Just something to think about and pray about.
